Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
James 1:19-20
In A Moment Of Anger
A couple had been married for 10 years but did not have any children. They stayed with each other and really hoped that they would have a child before the 11th anniversary. Family and friends advised them to get divorced, but they did not want to be separated because of the strong love between them. One day coming home from work, the husband saw his wife walking down the street with a man. They were looking very happy. After a week he again saw them together a few more times. One evening while returning home, he saw that the man dropped her off with a good-bye kiss on her cheek. After another hectic day at work, the husband was home. While he was holding a glass jug to get water, the phone rang, and he took the call. As soon as he picked up the receiver the voice from the other end said, "Hello dear, I will be coming to your home this evening to see you as promised, I hope." He hung up the phone before hearing anything further. He thought to himself, "it is a male voice, and I am sure it's the same person I have seen with my wife many times." So, while thinking he had lost his wife to another man the glass jug fell from his hand and shattered into pieces. Hearing the noise, his wife came running to him and asked, "Is everything okay?" In anger he pushed her, and she fell on the broken glass and was not moving. Instead of calling for an ambulance, he took an envelope that was in her hand. He was shocked by what was written in it. It reads: "My loving husband, I cannot tell you how I feel so ... I had to write you a letter. I have been seeing a doctor for some weeks now and I wanted to be sure before I give you the big news. The doctor has confirmed that I am pregnant. Our baby is due 5 months from now. The doctor is my brother-in-law, the husband of my long-lost sister who I haven't seen for more than 15 years. They had recently moved to the area. They will be having dinner with us this evening. I had to write to you because I am so happy. Thanks for staying by my side." The letter fell from his hands. Just then he heard a knock on the door: It was the same man he had seen with his wife. He came in and said, "Hello, I am John, your wife's brother-in-law, and this is my wife Suzie" ... Suddenly, he noticed his sister-in-law lying in a pool of blood on the floor. He rushed her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Moral of the story: We should not be too quick to jump to conclusions. Talking can clear up any misconception.
